I was born and raised in South Africa; I’m currently living in the Western Cape and you can usually find me somewhere in close proximity to the mountains and the sea. There are many things that I am passionate about but, to name a few, I love painting, carpentry, flowers, movement and getting knee-deep in conversations that bend my mind and stretch my worldly perceptions. I write specialised creative content on a freelance basis and I am expanding into doing this full-time (my portfolio will become available to explore soon if you are interested in collaborating). My top three values in life at present are fluidity, honesty and spaciousness. Generally, I don’t really know what’s going on (existentially speaking) but I believe there is great humour and expansion to be found in the complexities of this human experience. The best way to get to know me though is through my writing. I truly feel that it offers core insight in a way that nothing else might...

About Me

My Relationship to Writing

This craft is something that goes deeper than passion for me; it is less an action and more a way of being. I have observed how I move in a state of articulation. My writing is something that feels deeply interwoven with my essence, and in some strange way we are inseparable. I believe there are worlds within us that coexist subliminally as we move through life. I believe that there is something ethereal and transformative to be found in the internal spaces that we often try to ignore or reshape into something more digestible. I believe there are some things that we genuinely have no words for, but most things that exist and take up space (energetically, physically, mentally) do so in anticipation to be defined. I don’t think we write to understand; I think we write as a means to unmask ourselves and existence. A kind of act of bravery and presence that involves facing something of quiet immensity and choosing to acknowledge it in its entirety, whether that is in celebration or to preserve a sense of sanity. In turn, we fold into the art of reimagining it metaphorically or giving it the grace to be exactly how it is. And so these words serve, again and again, and we create spaces internally or externally that allow them to echo through the warping motions of time. Through poetry we immortalise, we dissect, we frame something inexplicable in a way that is precise with its uncertainty. It is a precious way of reaching out, beyond the void of our own chaos, and dancing with something until it feels tangible. My love lies here: in this dance, moving between all the layers of the process of articulating.
